ADDING SPICE TO TELECOM
READY FOR SOME INTENSE ACTION?
All of 23 circles and 9 operators it’s a dog fight out there in the Indian telecom vicinage. Operators are fighting it out for enhanced subscriber base, spectrum allocation and more network. First it was Airtel that announced its grand expansion plans, then it was Idea Cellular that undertook expansion from 8 circles to 23 circles; BSNL also expressed its expansion plans in future to the tune of a cool $5 billion and now it is the turn of Spice Telecom. Though Spice is a small operator providing telecom services in Karnataka and Punjab circles with a total subscriber base of about 21 lakhs, their latest announcement of investing $2.5 billion to expand existing network to all the 23 circles.
