Air Deccan – The Low Cost Warrior

Air Deccan is the pioneer of low cost airlines in India, which brought a revolution in the Indian skies and brought to reality the dream of every Indian to fly. It all started when Captain Gopinath (current MD; below) saw an enormous potential in the segment of ‘low fares, no frills’ air travel in India, without aiming to compete with relatively expensively priced domestic airlines like Jet, Sahara et al. Air Deccan, a unit of Deccan Aviation Pvt Ltd., which is India’s largest heli-charter company, started its operations in August 2003.
