In 2001, bodybuilding beckoned him once more when he received a call from the Russian Professional League of Bodybuilding & Fitness. Surging into the limelight, Alexander startled the pros of bodybuilding on October 31, 2003, at the IFBB Russian Grand Prix, where seven-time Mr. Olympia champion Ronnie Coleman, and world number two Jay Cutler – though succeeding in sustaining their position – were visibly perturbed by the enormously well conditioned amateur Alexander, who settled at the third-place.
